THE THOUGHTS OF A HORROR FAN..

Wassup fellow horror fans, this is J.Hexx , here just letting you all know what's up. Im almost done with MOTCG, and i am currently finishing the last two songs and writing all the album skits, so that the voice actors, who will be in this album, can do their parts. I have to say it is my most accomplished work to date and this album is so different from the debut Seven/Twitch album, in theory and subject matter. There has been talk that this album will be a new classic, but in my mind the way i feel is, i just want to make a good album that can be looked at as it's own thing. I'm not sure it will be classic, and i am not expecting it to be one in other people's eyes. Everyone has their own taste in music, and there will be folks who hate this album, as much as there will be ones who may adore it. Whether or not it is seen as a great album or not, is not my concern.

When i started thinking about this album,(around the end of 2008) it was while i was in 3SE, during the time in which the Monsta Squad album Grindhouse Hip Hop was being made. To me in order to make this album stand out in a sense compared to others, i felt it was time to take the storytelling route instead of the usual shock and awe we hear in most horror inspired albums. I once told Talley of THE FN' SPOT, that to me the album i'm creating is a "thinking man's horrorcore album" and he understood what that meant. I wanted to create a album of horror content of course, but wanted to inject a deeper story that allows you to want to know what's gonna happen to that charatcer, and build a relationship with said characters in the story. So on from the time i started thinking of the album content, which was around Nov.2008, i sat for around a year, thinking of how the story should pan out, as well as the personas of the characters and how i was going to start, carry the story and bring it to a close. As i am writing this, i am very proud of the result, even with it being 2 songs left to do and the album skits, i'm happy with what i accomplished.

A month ago, i had 7 folks test the early audio of the tracks, to see if what i was trying to convey as far as thoughts and feelings, were being invoked through the listening of the ideas in song i presented to these unnamed folks. Out of the 7 that tested the audio, all seven testers agreed they felt it has the potential to be a classic. That made me happy to know this, so my chances of putting out a quality album were being met, at least to those 7 testers involved which is a good sign.

The things that inspired this album among other things, is the subject of how Horror themed movies as well as video games, can have a profound effect on those to cause those prone to the violence to become future serial killers. This was the way i explored the subject matter, and in creating the story's protagonist Jake, a little thing happened September 2009 that shocked our community, and had also instilled in me that i had to create this album...

The crime of Richard Alden Samuel "Sam" McCroskey III, aka Syko Sam, shocked the community within the Horrorcore world, and brought alot of negative attention to our music genre. It was of particular interest to me, due to the news stating that because of him listening to Horrorcore, and being into violent horror films, made him more prone and succeptable to committing the Farmville Murders, but others in the know said it was much deeper than that for the kid had a troubled past in his life.

So i went into studying the psychosis of schizoprhenia and found there are many types of them, which the one that stuck out the most was Visual Schizophrenia.

After my findings and doing alot of intensive research into the medias past and present views on horror media and how it effects us as human beings, i then had enough to start with the Creation of Mountain Of The Cannibal God. Kiltcha of 3SE always tells me he wish he could've done more for me, in regards to music, but i knew Monsta Squad's album was so important to the genre, i agreed and advised Kiltcha to focus on Grindhouse Hip Hop, while i went in search of a small Print and Distribution deal, in which Corey Trenton of Lacore Music Group was all ears about my secret project at the time, as he was looking for artists to add to the Lacore stable.

I expressed all my thoughts in the creation of this album, and we both came to the conclusion this album was a very important one to release due to the social commentary hidden in the album's messages. Plus, once the information got out that i was doing this album, it has been met with great anticipation from supporters and friends alike. I really am trying not to let anyone down, so i did the best i did to make this album my vision, my world to describe to the listener. So with this in mind, i know that there will be folks who get it, some folks who won't and those who really don't give a fuck. Really, it doesn't matter at this point to me. Not to say i won't or don't apprecite critiscism, but this album is created with the open ended way that will allow you to create your own conclusions as to the reasons behind my creation of it. This is a fully fictionalized story, that retains alot of it's contents from happenings and real down to earth subject matter that hopefully will make you think about it, long after the music has ended.

So am i expecting this to be a classic by any means? No not really. But it is going to be a good album, and those who don't like it , it's fine, i don't expect everyone to like this type of album, because it isn't for everyone. But those who do, will see how much thought really went into this. I could've rushed this album out and give crap out, but i decided i really had to focus on the building in the story the definition of the characters, and the believablity factor as well, which i can tell you, i had idea wise, at least 4 versions of the full story before i created a fifth and final one, and even then it was a real task translating the story into song, making each one understandable and compatible with each other-Style wise and feel wise. So for those who waited the 2 years since Seven/Twitch made its appearance, i truly have to say i appreciate every single one of you, for dealing with this as long and waiting as long as you have, and i don't want to dissapoint you.

I'm almost done, i would say within a month it will be turned in to Corey at Lacore, and hopefully it will have the long standing power to be appreciated as a album that can be compared to art. Well until next time, i should be able to have a true update on MOTCG, and hopefully i can have a tenative date for preorders. Take care horror fans, and remember, Dark Minds Think Alike!

THE J.HEXX PROJECT

HORRORCORE AND WHAT IT MEANS TO ME...

Back years ago, when i first saw the video for The Gravediggers song Diary of a Madman, i couldn't help but be mesmerized at the display of gothic horror images, mixed with dark music that had a purpose. I knew at that point in a way, what horrorcore was somewhat, but at times the meaning of it during the years of listening to it, has changed depending on it's representation or expression. Horrorcore, is defined in a dictionary as,it defines the style of hip hop music that focuses around horror-influenced topics that include Satanism, cannibalism, suicide and murder. The lyrics are inspired by horror movies over moody, hardcore beats. This is very true to it's extent, but over the years, there has been those who listen to horrorcore who complain that it's lost it's edge, its not like what it was, and most of them are correct. It was a very visual but deeply imaginitive style of music versus what it has become mainly today, due to anyone being able to buy a cheap usb mike for less than 80 bucks, and getting a recording program like Audacity to make music, when it takes so much more than that. To different people Horrorcore has different meanings and representations. Some see it as entertainment, some see hidden mesages within, and some see it as a dangerous culture, filled with sadists and perverted folks who have a liking to the music. Even some distance themselves from Horrorcore , because of how it is viewed, much as Necro has expressed in many of his interviews i read online, he hates the term horrorcore and i don't blame him. Why you ask? It's really simple, it's because instead of most of us supporting the movements of the better artists, everyone wants to be a fucking rapper. Every motherfucking everyone. There's a reason why there's listeners, fans, and artists folks. It's to of course, help stimulate the economy behind a independent truly underground record. It's not taken seriously because of the explosion of the internet rapper.

I support downloading to a degree, because it's good promotion, and also it's bad because also if released too early ahead of a artists release, it can cause the artist to fail to at least make back the initial investment of pressing, making music, recording studio time etc., to get it all back. Those who don't at least get a copy after downloading it, even if they like it won't buy 9 times out of ten, so guess what? Now the artist either gives you shitty music, or he says fuck this shit, and quits because of a lack of support. This is when making good music comes into play. Making good music, should cause some folks to like it and buy it. But one thing is for sure, nothing beats going out in the public and doing it the old fashioned way, like when i first started making music at age 14. The internet culture has it's advantages, but also can confine a artist to the same people over and over, when the whole idea of promotion is to expose yourself and your music to new folks, all the time, every time. That is how true promotion works, and this is why it was successful with acts such as Syckside, Qstrange, Brotha Lynch Hung, Psycho Jesus and a few great acts that are still doing it big. Horrorcore to me is a lifestyle, it's the way we view the world, and how we use horror visual expressions to express ourselves in word form. It is a art as long as the right person knows how to use it in it's best form, it's a way to escape our shackled lives and agression, taking that agression and outputting it in music instead of taking another person's life. Unfortunately, there are folks who go a little far, and this scenario doesn't need to be mentioned here, because it's bigger than that. It's bigger than me and you, and everyone involved. It's the culture of horrocore and if we truly want this scene to flourish and become bigger and greater than it is, we need to realize we need to preserve it's culture and let those who come after us know what Horrorcore is. It's not one site, it's not Wicked Underground, it's all us, the community, and what we put back into the culture that defines Horrorcore.

We are Horrorcore, and i am proud to say that i will try my best to help move it forward, to the best that i can do, and make it for the people, make it for the artists, make it for the genre and culture. Fuck bias. Fuck being afraid to post music or taboo topics. This is what Horrorcore is, it's a movement a expression of self and others, and unless we understand this and conform ourselves to protect it, the bitch will die. It will become a corpse and get buried. Why do you think i wrote BEYOND DARKNESS about, huh? You think it was about a man's love for a corpse? Think again. It's about the genre of Horrorcore and how I ,the lover of it intends to keep his love of horrorcore from decaying and dying. I will do my best, but i can only do so much. It also has to do with you, the listenrers, the artists, the artwork guys, the tech folks who make websites for horrorcore, that can help make this change. It's a movement that we are already currently involved in. Let's rep everyone, the whole community, no bias, no bullshit. Just straight up Horrorcore. So we can all enjoy what we love, which is the music. So in ending this, now you know what i think in my opinion is true horrorcore...

It's you the community. Plain and simple and Wicked Underground will promise to do it's best to include everything that the genre has in store, and promote it without fear of being banned. Be mindful, be positive, we deal with enough negativity at home or work. We are here to enjoy Horrorcore. And hopefully you will come to understand why we, the people, the culture created the Wicked Underground.

The J.Hexx Project

Check out WICKEDUNDERGROUND.COM

UPDATES!!

Wassup, this is The J.Hexx Project, just coming back from a bit of a hiatus, a vacation as you call it. Just wanted to update you on a very long awaited information on my new album, MOUNTAIN OF THE CANNIBAL GOD! The album is about 60% done recorded, there are some things i am going to clean up, im mixing my own verses, and so far it is surpassing my vision for what i imagined it to be, compared to what i have right now! All i can say is the wait will be worth it, and trust me- this album will change what a true horror album should sound and be like. Story based albums are not done as much in the genre of horrorcore for some reason (the last significant, and only story based horrorcore album ever made was Q STRANGE'S own CREATION TO EXEQUTION) and this was some time ago- so it is about time a new story based album building off the true horror life can offer is offered to the fans and listeners of the horrorcore community.

Also, as of late i have been working hard on getting to be more on the producer side of things. My first full production credit is on the new album Grindhouse Hip Hop from the group THE MONSTA SQUAD, from the label 3SE (which i have a good relationship with, good people), on a song called WORLD'S SICKEST GROUP. Those sick bastards really surprised me with the verses they put over my production, and the album is pretty tight. Go cop that shit if you love horror, cause Juz-10 and Mr Kiltcha go grindhouse horror over ill hip hop production, and the album is executive produced by BOB E NITE himself, so cop that shit at http://Official3SE.Com !

As far as M.O.T.C.G, the release date has not been picked, because once the album is done, then i can give a more solid release date. Quality over quantity i always said...

Stay tuned for more news from the schizo himself...take care horror fans!

P.S. GOD OF WAR 3 kicks serious ass! Cop it if you got a PS3!

Wassup horror fanatics! This is J.Hexx here, just giving you the heads up on the updates. If you head to the store, we now take International orders, and all products have been priced accordingly for USA orders and INTERNATIONAL orders. And also, the store has the ability to apply all products to a cart, so that helps if you want to order multiple items, or order multiple copies of the same item!
ALSO: I just added a free music section, for folks who supported me, and for people who would like to get free music. I added SEV'RD CUTZ 1 and SEV'RD CUTZ 2, which are both old tracks and unreleased material in those releases! They are located in the FREE MUSIC section of the STORE link. It will direct you to LACORE RECORDS link, in which it will ask you if you would like to save the file. Click save file, and it will open a window in which it will ask where in your computer will you like to save the zip files to.
In order to get this download, either click on the picture art of the album you like to download for free, or click on the link below which says," GET SEV'RD CUTZ/ SEV'RD CUTZ 2 FOR FREE NOW!", and you will be able to download the music! A big thanks to Corey Trenton of LACORE RECORDS for the artwork, and the support in the release of these two free Mp3 albums!
Enjoy the site, and thanks for the support, the schizo appreciates it!
